Banglalink wants to achieve double digit growth with 4G
Mobile operator Banglalink wants to achieve double-digit growth in the coming years by expanding its 4G network across the country and expanding digital services. Eric Oss, CEO of Banglalink, expressed this expectation at an investor day event organized by Vion, the company that owns the operator.
The event was also attended by Vion's Group CEO Kan Terzolu and CEOs of other companies operating under the company's auspices around the world. Vion investors and analysts were also present at the event.
Banglalink plans to invest in infrastructure for the next 2-3 years, said Eric Oss. Through this, the quality of 4G coverage and service of the operator across the country will be further improved. Banglalink wants to ensure quality internet service and best service in all regions of the country with maximum amount of spectrum per customer. Eric Oss added that he expects Banglalink's revenue market share to increase to 25 percent, just like Spectrum's market share.
Banglalink has made significant strides in digital services in recent years. Toffee is one of the digital services of the company. This app has all the features of video streaming and for 83 consecutive weeks it has maintained the position of the top entertainment app in Bangladesh. Banglalink has also launched other digital services targeting important areas such as music, education, gaming, health, ad-tech and self-care.
In addition, the number of Banglalink's 4G users has increased rapidly overall. According to last quarter's report, 33% of Banglalink's total subscribers are 4G users. At the same time, the number of 4G users has increased by 63% in the third quarter of this year as compared to the third quarter of last year. In addition, 40% of subscribers use all Banglalink services.
Commenting on the progress of Banglalink, Eric Oss said: We are currently focusing on expanding our strong 4G network across the country to provide better services to Banglalink customers. We will soon achieve this goal with maximum spectrum per customer and further strengthen our position in the telecom sector.”
In a recent interview, Banglalink's chief executive officer said that 3,000 new base transceiver stations will be set up by 2022.
